Our next Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous (LASER) is this Thursday March 30, 5:30pm at the Beach Museum.

This month’s event will feature special guest speaker Philippe Pasquier. Dr. Pasquier is an associate professor in the School of Interactive Arts and Technology, Simon Fraser University. He conducts both a scientific and artistic research agenda. His research focuses on building deeper theories for endowing machines with autonomous behaviours, with a focus on creative and artistic applications.

The LASER talks are back!

What: Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous (LASER)
Where: Beach Museum of Art (UMB Theater)
When: Thursday September 22nd, 5:30-8pm

The next Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendezvous (LASER), will be held from 5:30-8pm, September 22nd at the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum in the UMB Theater.

Special LASER event: Communicating Complexity

This will be a special LASER event. We will convene a panel to report on the activities of a one-day workshop held at Konza Prairie on July 15th of this year. Organized by Carol Blocksome, Linda Duke, Celka Straughn, Rhonda Janke, Carlos Castellanos and others, this one day workshop/symposium served as a platform to open up a regional dialog on art-science collaboration. The panel will provide a summary of our activities and discuss future possibilities.

DX Media Lab at ISEA 2015

The DX Media Lab will be well-represented at the prestigious International Symposium on Electronic Art (ISEA). Happening in Vancouver, BC this year, the symposium features interactive art exhibits, academic talks, workshops and more. DX Media Lab co-director Carlos Castellanos and his group DPrime Research will exhibit Mobile Bioenergy Lab (as part of the Oscillations exhibition) and run a workshop on constructing microbial fuel cells. Professor Castellanos and fellow DX Media Lab co-diretor Matt Garcia will also take part in a panel dicsussion on art, ecology and nonhuman systems. Hope to see you there!
